Nicknamed "Old Salt," the Nimitz has served the U.S. Navy for more than four decades — a 100,000-ton floating city carrying up to 5,500 service men and women. Russell Recchion's first Naval Aviation painting captures the tremendous mass and majesty of an American supercarrier at sea.
Masterfully rendered in blues, grays, purples, and teals, the original 20" × 30" oil on canvas reveals details down to the white stars on the Nimitz's blue navigation pole. This is where the Naval Aviation Collection began.
